Terms & Conditions

Bookings

Bookings must be made directly through myself via phone, message or email.

Veterinary Physiotherapists are required to treat under veterinary referral in accordance with the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 and Veterinary Exemptions Order 2015. Therefore, all remedial cases MUST have a referral/consent from their veterinary surgeon/ practice prior to any initial assessment.

Preparing for an appointment

In order to make the treatment as efficient as possible, please ensure your animal is clean and dry prior to the appointment, otherwise palpation and manual therapies cannot be carried out effectively.

Please ensure there is a quiet, safe area for the treatment to take place, such as a stable tie-up area (for equine appointments). If there is no indoor space, appointments may have to be rescheduled in the event of bad weather.

The right is reserved to refuse physiotherapy treatment if the animal required veterinary treatment prior to physiotherapy, or if the animal is considered a danger to the physiotherapist. Any animal presenting with sickness or a contagious disease will not be treated. In these cases the client will not be charged for the appointment.

Payment method

We accept cash payments, cheques and BACS as acceptance of payment for treatment. The full cost of treatment is to be paid on the same day. Full session costs can be found on our website under ‘treatment prices’.

Cancellations

We understand that there may be extenuating circumstances and you are entitled to cancel your appointment. However, if you need to cancel your appointment, please contact me as soon as possible. To avoid being charged, please give at least 24 hours notice prior to the appointment. In circumstances where 24 hours’ notice is not given or if the appointment is a "no show”, we reserve the right to charge 50% of the appointment charge.

If cancellations or no-shows become a regular occurrence, then treatment may be refused.

Insurance claims

The majority of insurance companies recognise the IRVAP as a professional governing body within the industry which I am registered with. Please contact your insurance company to find out more prior to physiotherapy treatment.

Please note I do not deal with direct claims, you will be required to cover the costs of any treatment with me and I can then provide a receipt of payment as well as a full treatment report which you can use to claim on your insurance.

Privacy policy

All clients are strictly bound by client confidentiality within the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 and the IRVAP Code of Practice. Emily Shaw Veterinary physiotherapy complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 1998 regulations, in order to protect clients and users and their personal data.
